Fire up the grill

Barbecue season is here, and it’s time to get the grill up and running! Whether you prefer gas or charcoal, you’ll no doubt be preparing all your favorite barbecue recipes in the coming months. Looking for some new ideas? Here you go:

Beachy BBQ: Whether you’re actually barbecuing at the beach or simply want to recreate the feel, make the focus on shellfish! Clams, mussels and oysters can be grilled directly in their shells and then drizzled with garlic butter. To grill large shrimp, just peel and devein them before stringing onto skewers and placing on the grill. Use garlic butter as a dipping sauce for grilled shrimp. Delicious with a glass of Chablis!

Grilled corn on the cob: You’ll never boil corn on the cob again once you’ve tasted it hot off the grill! Remove husks from corn and place ears on the drill, 4 to 6 inches above the coals. Cook, turning frequently, until kernels are golden brown on all sides, about 10 minutes. Remove from grill, drizzle with freshly squeezed lime juice and sprinkle with salt. Feeling a bit decadent? Try the Neelys’ recipe for grilled corn with feta cheese. Yummy!

No barbecue? No worries! Even if you don’t have an outdoor grill, you can still enjoy classic barbecue flavor! Here’s Bobby Flay’s tasty recipe for ribs made right in your oven. Great with a glass of Burgundy or Merlot!
