Camping in style
Whether your idea of “roughing it” is a cozy tent in the woods or a furnished cabin with a nice view of the woods (and indoor plumbing), now’s a perfect time to enjoy the great outdoors. Here are some ways to make your adventure more enjoyable:
Foiled again: When cooking anything from corn on the cob to baked potatoes over a campfire, try wrapping the food in foil first. Not only will everything cook more evenly, but you can add all sorts of seasonings – butter, spices and herbs – to the food before you wrap it up. Once cooked, your meal will be infused with flavor. Extra tip: Foil is also great for cleaning public grills before you use them. Simply crumple a large piece of foil and use it to scrape the grill.
Portable wine: No need to worry about toting heavy wine bottles along on your camping trip. Almaden’s Bag In Box (BIB) wine packages are easy to transport whether you’re in a tent, cabin, RV or even on a boat. Here’s to the first shooting star!
Super s’mores: S’mores are a classic campfire dessert. Leave it to Martha Stewart to create a handy, easy-to-make S’mores To-Go box along with tips for building the perfect campfire. For even more decadent s’mores, try substituting peanut butter cups for the chocolate squares!
